Must be “vintage”

We are happy to hear from our customers,
“I would like you to write about the differences and charms between vintage and new products!!”
I received a request!
So I will write what I personally think,
This is just my personal opinion, so there is no right or wrong answer.
I hope this will be helpful when purchasing watches etc.

It may be too late now, but why am I obsessed with “vintage”?
This answer is simple.
“Because I like design.”
This is the best.

When it comes to clothing items, not just watches, the best thing to do is to like the design.
If you don't like it, you won't feel attached to it,
More than anything, I don't feel like valuing it.
Especially when it comes to watches, it doesn't end once you buy them; there is also maintenance to be done in the future.
At such times, there are probably few people who would pay to repair something they don't like.
So above all, I want you to buy something that you like the design of.
It's better to know the details later,
If you have any questions about maintenance, etc., please consult the store personnel.
I think that's what "shopping" really means.

In addition, the charm of vintage products is the design of the time,
The ``atmosphere'' that gives you a sense of the historical background cannot be overlooked.
Of course, the shape is a deciding factor in the design,
Colors and details also vary depending on the era.
When we look at these differences,
You will know which age group you prefer.

By the way, I was born in 1981, before Japan entered the bubble era.
This was a time when many things were exported overseas and Japanese-made products were praised for their excellence.
Since there is no internet like there is now, there is less information than there is now,
I could see the attitude of trying to make something really good,
At the same time, it was a time of trial and error in order to achieve mass production.
Somehow, I feel a mixture of hope and anxiety,
A time when an exciting future awaits...
That's what I'm thinking (lol)
One of the charms of vintage items is that you can learn about the historical background.

There are two major charms of such vintage items.
There are many others, but
When it comes to watches, the most important aspect is their ease of maintenance.
Old watches had a simpler structure than modern ones, so
Any watchmaker anywhere in the world should be able to fix it.
Of course, some maintenance could not be done,
Although there are problems such as parts not being available,
At least when it comes to what we sell in our own stores,
We select products with consideration to what will happen after they are purchased.
So I will try my best to fix whatever it is,
It's all the same if the user uses it correctly.

So, what about "current products" such as new products?
I don't mean to deny it, but I personally don't like it.
This is not only the design, but also
There are many things that don't match your lifestyle or clothes.
And most importantly, they are generally expensive.
Furthermore, there are many watches that can only be maintained in-house.

However, the current product has been derived from years of research,
It has been "completed" so to speak with current technology.
Watches have also overcome most of the weaknesses found in older watches,
We have realized "hard to break" and "no deterioration".
However, whether that is good or bad depends on each person.
If you think, ``I don't want my watch to break, so I prefer the current model,'' don't hesitate to buy the current model.
However, this is clearly reflected in the price.

Taking that into consideration,
Each has its own good and bad points,
I can't say which is better or worse.
However, for me, there is a feeling that ``the more time it takes, the more cute it is'', so
I don't think I'll ever buy a current watch unless I have a serious reason to do so.

There is no problem in living without a watch.
However, when you reach a certain age,
It is impossible not to wear a watch as part of your ``actions''.
That's why I think it's an item that you should choose for yourself what you need.
I don't buy things that someone recommends,
Moreover, it is not something to be held for show.
I want you to have something that you love with all your heart.
In today's world with so much information,
I think it's important to believe in what you like.

My current watch is
Seiko Road Marvel in the 50s, Omega Constellation in the 70s,
The Grand Seiko from the 1960s has finally returned from repair.

The mainspring broke, the gears chipped,
It took several months to arrange parts before it was revived.
As I learned more about Seiko, this was the watch that I thought was the only one for me.
Maybe it's because I'm attached to it like other items,
I felt strangely happy when the repair was completed.
Small troubles like this
Maybe it's because it's a vintage watch.

That's not to say I wouldn't recommend vintage items to just anyone.
what kind of thing do you want?
When do you want to use it?
What kind of outfit do you want to match it with?
What is needed varies depending on the person, but
If you have even the slightest interest in vintage, the first thing you should do is try to get one.
That's where it all begins.

But before that,
The first thing to do is to inquire about the product you are interested in.
