A reproduction model of the "Seiko Credor 1st Locomotive" announced the other day.
For the past 10 years or so, Seiko's "regular" reissue festivals have been held.
What do you think about releasing reissues while the originals are still available to buy?

This is one of the reasons why I have become more interested in vintage models.
That's not necessarily a waste.
But it's also bad to do too much of everything.
I am partially in favor of reprinting it if it's because the original is impossible to get hold of.
If they could just make one model every few years, the value of the reissue would increase,
I think it will increase interest in reprints and originals.
In reality, there seems to be a sense that the brand has run out of ideas.
This reprint costs ￥1,760,000.
There are only 300 units available, so if they are all sold it will bring in 528 million yen.
The manufacturer's share is probably around 300 million yen.
Since they will be using the Gerald Genta name extensively, will they be paying around 100 to 200 million yen in patent fees?
I don't really know the actual situation, but
If you're going to do it, you should go for a stainless steel quartz movement.
I'd like to make it as close to the original as possible.
They may have had to raise the price due to patent fees etc.
Maybe it will be sold at a cheaper price.
However, in my personal opinion, rather than just doing reissue models,
I look forward to each manufacturer coming up with some sensational new products.
The probability of natural disasters occurring is higher,
If they ask me for a design idea, I would love to take on the project (laughs).
Well, there haven't been any really interesting new watches released in the last few years, so
I hope that soon I'll find a watch that I'm willing to go into debt to buy...
But I prefer the vintage models!
