「Re-pair(リペア=修理)」で想うこと。

What I think about "Re-pair"

The other day we were asked to install the strap screws on a Cartier Pasha C.

Unlike the bracelet version, the Pasha C with a leather strap is

When pressure is applied to the leather strap, the watch and strap swing back and forth.

This force can be transmitted to the screws holding the belt in place, causing it to come off.

One of the reasons for this is that the belt screws on the Pasha C at that time had short threads,

Due to the structure, it is not possible to use very strong adhesives,

Occasionally, we receive repair requests like this.

We only offer warranty on watches purchased at our store.

If we have the parts in stock, we can install the screws without any extra charge.

If the part is not available, we will introduce you to aftermarket parts that can be installed.

In this case, we will charge you the actual cost of the parts, but there will be no labor charges.

In either case, we ask that you cover the cost of round-trip shipping.

As far as I know about these types of responses,

Most stores don't do this.

At least not at the company I worked for.

This is because repairs to the exterior, regardless of the reason, are generally charged, including by the manufacturer.

It is the sole responsibility of the user,

In any case, most stores will charge a fee for repairs.

Free installation of stock parts,

Although they are external parts, they only charge the actual cost.

These don't generate sales for watch stores,

If you don't earn wages, you won't make a profit.

So many stores offer this service for a fee,

The company will request repairs from the manufacturer and charge the repair fee, including the brokerage fee.

I think that's how independent stores used to be.

So why do we offer free repairs on watches purchased from us?

I should mention up front that not everything is free.

In some cases, we may charge you for repairs,

We will notify you in advance in such cases.

Returning to the point, the act of "buying a watch" is of course done with money earned by oneself,

At the same time, it takes time and effort to "search for a watch."

And then you go through the final step of choosing a store before purchasing a watch.

The time was exciting and fun,

There are some things I don't understand, so I feel nervous and anxious.

It is through these complex elements that the customer and the watch finally meet.

The role of this intermediary is played by "stores" like ours.

After that, since it is a physical object, there will be problems such as breakdowns if you use it.

Assuming this is inevitable,

Can we respond appropriately to this situation? Or not?

I think this is also a big point.

We believe that it is our role to clarify any unclear points as much as possible when we open our store.

We have always strived to provide thorough support for the watches we sell and the repairs we take in.

We sell our watches in a way that makes them a "pair" with our customers.

When repairing something, we fix it again so that it can be used again .

In other words, we "re-pair" them so that they can be reunited.

So there is no big reason to offer small parts for free.

For our customers who have spent a lot of time and effort choosing us,

Doing everything we can,

Because we hope you will love your watch again.

I work with these things in mind.

As a store, sales are important,

What's even more important is customer satisfaction.

By the way, I thought up the word "Repair" myself, so I'm sorry if I got it wrong (lol).
