ふと「80年代、90年代」を振り返る。

I suddenly look back on the 80's and 90's.

Yesterday, I went to the "Street Fighter Exhibition" with my kids.

That's right, this screen!!

Although the venue is not large,
From beginning to end, I was so nostalgic that I fainted.
It's no exaggeration to say that most of my life as an elementary school student was devoted to this "Strike 2" (lol)
Start at a low level and end up playing at the highest level,
Beaten again and again,
I noticed something when I was at the highest level.
"My attack power is low, isn't it?"

In fighting games, the main character appears throughout the series, so
We can respond immediately to new series, so
I only use Ryu or Ken,
I couldn't keep up with it after the second movie, Strike 2.
I changed it to "Fatal Fury", which is another fighting game that was popular in the first generation.

These games were popular in the 1980s and 1990s.
This was the era of arcade games.
There are no online games like there are now,
Play Capcom and Neo Geo games at the game center.
I've often heard that people sometimes get tricked by unscrupulous people.
I only go to game centers when they open, so
Basically, we were doing it on a private basis.

It was my child's first time seeing Strike 2, so he didn't seem to understand it very well at first.
It seemed like he had fun just watching it in his own way.
I'm not shy when it comes to the Hadouken section, which everyone admired when they were kids.
Wow, this is the main event (lol)
Along with explaining the game, I talked to my children about what happened back then.
“Ah, I guess I’ve become an old man.”
Just a little sad (lol)
After all, Street Fighter was first announced when I was a child.
Five years later, Strike 2 was released, so he must be an old man (lol)
As I was talking about those days, I suddenly thought,
``Japan's population has increased since I was a child.''

When I say the population has increased, I don't mean the "Japanese population."
I feel that the number of foreign and half-Japanese children has increased rapidly.
At the time, I was living in Hiroshima City.
There were very few foreigners in Peace Park like there are now.
Even if there were only students on a school trip,
When I was in elementary school, when an American student transferred to my school,
They treat me as if I were a celebrity (lol)
I rarely saw foreigners when I walked around the city,
Nowadays, regardless of nationality, class or grade,
Or maybe there are at least one or two people at school.
Well, I have three children who are half-Japanese from an international marriage.
Compared to when I was a child,
I don't feel any discomfort speaking a foreign language while living in Japan.

And what I think has changed the most is that everyone seems to be busy.
This is probably due to the fact that each family does not have one mobile phone or computer.
Maybe it's because each person has one device.

When I was a child, I went to elementary school on a crowded bus.
I rarely see people working outside of the workplace.
Of course, I think it's because we don't have cell phones or the internet.
Nowadays, it may be rare to find someone who doesn't look at their smartphone on a train or bus.

Looking back over the past 30 years, many things have changed in the world.
I think it has become even more convenient.
There were no convenience stores like there are now,
There were also very few shops open 24 hours.
I think times have really changed.

Then, when I was 20 years old, of course I had a cell phone,
The number of people who own computers has also increased.
But it was around the time after the employment ice age, and we were in the middle of a recession.
Almost every day, there are people who commit suicide on the railroad tracks somewhere.
They also sold strange things like magic mushrooms on the roadside.
Around the year 2000, which is said to be the millennium.
Personally, I think it was the roughest time (lol)

By the way, arcade games are still very popular these days.
At that time, "Tekken" was at its peak.
I used to do it myself, but I didn't get much relief, so
He says he is hooked on Garou Legend again.
At that time, I almost never lost when I played in Shinjuku and Akihabara.
It's just that there aren't many users to begin with.

After that, I hardly played any games,
Before I knew it, a child was born,
Children are now the gaming generation.

Sometimes it's good to look back like that,
Of course, there are many cases where this is not the case.
But if you ask me when is the best time,
I think now is definitely the best time,
I feel blessed in many ways.
But if you say it's from the past and it's better than now,
"Music" and "Movies".
I can't give up on this.

It's true that everything becomes more sophisticated as time passes, so I won't deny it.
In both cases, I think there is a sense of "desperation" in the fact that there are many things that the old ones cannot do.
Without information like now, there would be no connections.
That's why I challenge myself to do what I can.

Maybe,
That may never change.
