The 44GS is commonly known as the "Phantom Grand Seiko" due to its extremely short production period of just two years.

The first Grand Seiko was produced at the Kameido factory alongside the high-end King Seiko model of the time.

The gold-plated case, which is far less common than the stainless steel model, is a rare item with the same design as the KS Chronometer.

The movement is a hand-wound Cal. 4420B equipped with a second hand regulation device, making it an extremely rare model with enthusiastic fans both in Japan and overseas.
