Regarding the watch repair requested by a customer the other day.
The mainspring would not wind when manually wound, so we performed an overhaul and replaced the mainspring, but other parts also needed to be replaced.
This is a highly rare Cartier Pre-Must Tank.
It is a wonderful vintage model, nearly 50 years old.
During a detailed internal inspection for this overhaul,
we discovered that the spring that operates the barrel was also broken.
While stocking or finding substitutes for parts like mainsprings is relatively easy,
smaller components sometimes cannot be ordered from parts suppliers,
making it necessary to keep movements themselves in stock.
We had the necessary parts in stock, so we were able to resolve the issue without difficulty.
The customer also requested a strap replacement,
so we were able to repair both the interior and exterior to a beautiful condition.
This time:
Overhaul ¥19,800

Spring replacement: Complimentary
Strap replacement ¥12,100
Total ¥40,700
Sometimes vintage watches cannot be repaired due to a lack of parts,
leaving the watch unusable.
However, some movements have a reliable supply of parts,
allowing those watches to be maintained indefinitely.
But most importantly, "regular maintenance" is key.
Even if it runs well now, that is only temporary,
and eventually the watch will stop working.
If the reason it stops is just a lack of oil, that is fine,
but you must be careful if it stops due to worn-out parts.
We were able to fix it this time,
so it can be used for a long time to come.
