We recently received a watch repair request from a customer.
This time, in addition to the overhaul, we also replaced the crystal.
This is an 18k yellow gold Tiffany watch that we sold shortly after opening our store.
Tiffany watches themselves are rare and not widely circulated, but
an 18k gold version is even more exceptional.
It's a rare model that you hardly ever see these days.
We are delighted that it has been cherished for so long,
and we are especially grateful to have received the repair request this time.
We hadn't heard from the customer in a while when they contacted us saying, "I bumped the watch and the second hand came off."
When they sent the watch, we also found the crystal was cracked.
Strong impacts like bumps or drops are often fatal to mechanical wristwatches,
and can sometimes cause damage to small internal parts.
If the watch is too old, in the worst case, parts might not be available.
Upon inspection, we found no damage to the movement this time,
and were able to repair it with a standard overhaul and crystal replacement.
This time:
Overhaul: ¥30,800
Crystal replacement: ¥8,800
Total: ¥39,600
It has been 12 years since this watch was sold, so it was past due for an overhaul.
We would appreciate it if you could request an overhaul once every three years to avoid major repairs.
For now, it's safely repaired and can be used for a long time again.
