The Cartier Panthère that arrived today is a 3-row model with a date function, a feature only available in the original models.
It is, in fact, quite a rare item.
The Panthère, introduced in 1983, featured a wide variety of materials and
was the first Cartier watch to be released in three sizes: SM, MM, and LM.
It was a very attractive series with a comprehensive lineup,
and among them, the 3-row models were scarce in all sizes,
positioning them as luxury models on par with solid gold versions.
Interweaving three rows of 18k yellow gold and stainless steel,
it offered a slightly more subdued feel than the solid gold models,
and a more華やかな impression than the stainless steel or 2-row models.
The substantial weight when worn also provides a wearing experience unique to the 3-row model.
While the SM size often evokes a delicate image,
the MM size, with its second hand and date function, has a moderate thickness of 6mm,
making it a larger size when worn by women,
and a nicely compact size when worn by men.
At the time, intermediate sizes like "boy size" watches were considered neither here nor there,
so it was common for women to wear women's sizes and men to wear men's sizes.
Consequently, intermediate sizes for both men and women, including Rolex, were not very popular,
resulting in a very low circulation due to limited demand.
However, today it has become common for women to wear men's watches,
and many who prefer a larger, more versatile watch choose the MM size.
While current Panthère models also offer an MM size,
they lack a date function and the 3-row is no longer in production,
making this watch, which combines elegance and practicality, exclusively available as a vintage model.
For this sale, we had Cartier perform a complete service,
including exterior polishing and replacing necessary parts with new ones.
Although it's a hard-to-find item, the maintenance has been thoroughly carried out.
This Panthère MM is our first time receiving it,
and not only is its condition excellent, but it has also been meticulously maintained for practical use,
making it a piece we can confidently recommend to anyone who purchases it.
While the Panthère is a very popular watch among women,
given its size, we highly recommend it to men as well.
Its jewelry-like aura, which sets it apart from Tank and Santos models,
and its brilliance that seems to counteract the signs of aging,
are arguably the greatest charms of the Panthère.
Moreover, when it comes to the MM size 3-row, which has always had extremely low circulation,
there's virtually no reason not to consider it.
