The "Seiko Lord Marvel" that arrived today is a rare model that underwent a major minor change in 1966 and
was only produced for a mere two years.

This particular model was given the new model number "5740-8000" and is a valuable item that underwent significant changes, such as
making the case water-resistant.
This model number and general design were later passed on to the high-beat "Lord Marvel 36000," but
the details not found in the more readily available high-beat models are very appealing.

The dial comes with either Arabic or bar indices,
and the case is either stainless steel or gold-plated, so
the variations are the same as the high-beat model.
However, as a detail unique to the low-beat model,
the surface of the Arabic indices is silver metal,
and the dial has a subtle sunray finish.
The logo combines the block letters "SEIKO" with the cursive "Lord Marvel," and
since it's a low-beat model, there is no "36000" marking indicating the oscillation rate.

The movement is equipped with Cal. 5740B, which is an improved version of Cal. 5740A with enhanced accuracy and easier timing adjustment.
Cal. 5740C, which is a high-beat version based on this movement,
suggests its fundamental design.

The case back features a seahorse engraving, indicating its water-resistant specifications.
This detail was also adopted for a period in high-beat models, and while
it's a part not visible when worn, it's a detail that strangely evokes affection.
Looking at these differences, not only can one appreciate the unique qualities of each,
but the short production period further enhances its profound rarity.
In vintage watches, even slight differences can significantly impact the price,
and it's common for a watch's price to more than double just because of a different dial.
While this Lord Marvel doesn't command a significant premium price,
the number of units in good condition is decreasing year by year, leading to a corresponding increase in price.
Given that Seiko's vintage models are gaining increasing appreciation worldwide,
opportunities to acquire such unique watches are becoming more difficult.
This Lord Marvel, which we strived to consistently stock, will be our last.
Don't miss this opportunity!
