The repair you requested the other day was for an item brought in by the customer.
This time, unusually, we performed an overhaul of a Zenith Elite.
Zenith watches are rarely brought in for repair.
While having them repaired by an authorized service center can be very expensive,
this time, we proceeded with the work, also to determine if the repair was even possible.
While there are no technical issues with overhauling a Zenith Elite itself,
obtaining parts for any Zenith watch is extremely difficult.
The availability of parts has drastically decreased compared to before,
and the craftsman informed us that if parts couldn't be sourced, the watch would be returned unrepaired.
Upon inspection, we found a broken mainspring and damaged reversing wheel, both requiring replacement.
Although we managed to find the parts, they had to be ordered from overseas,
which meant a significantly longer lead time than usual.
We explained the situation to the customer and informed them that the delivery time would be approximately two months,
and they kindly agreed, so we proceeded with the repair.
This time, the costs were:
Overhaul: ¥33,000
Mainspring replacement: ¥16,500
Reversing wheel replacement: ¥33,000
Total: ¥82,500
Once the watch was successfully repaired, the customer also requested a band replacement.
Honestly, many Zenith watches have special structures that often make them unrepairable,
so I honestly didn't think this one could be repaired either,
but thanks to the craftsman's dedication, the repair was completed successfully.
Now it can be used for many more years.
When it comes to watch repairs, some are possible and some are not.
Most current models with in-house movements can only be repaired by the manufacturer.
However, some technical problems can be overcome,
and sometimes parts can be sourced.
