Speaking of Shinjuku...

I went to Tokyo on some errands since last Friday.
I went to Shinjuku for the first time in a while,
The last time I went was for a meeting with Urban Research Doors, so
It’s been about 4 years? I wonder if it was.
In any case, there is no doubt that it has been a long time.

Shinjuku was my base of life when I was in my 20s.
There are so many people and shops, both now and in the past.
Stores that were once known as famous stores have disappeared with the passage of time.
From there, a store that will create a new era will begin.

However, there are some businesses that have been operating stores in prime locations in Japan for years or even decades.
The store I visited this time for the first time in 15 years is one of them.

If you can recognize the store from this photo, you must be a connoisseur.

Speaking of Shinjuku...Even though there are countless famous shops,
The cabbage rolls from Acacia , a long-established store, are
I think it's one of the characteristics of Shinjuku.

The first time I ate acacia cabbage rolls,
It was “Cream stew??”
Until I was around 20 years old, cabbage rolls were only associated with tomato sauce.
At first I was skeptical,
The rice set comes with regular white rice...
Cream stew with white rice? ? ?
I realized that when I ate it.

For a rich but not overwhelming cream stew,
A strong, strong Tokyo flavor.
This goes well with white rice!
Best of all, the cream stew cabbage rolls turn into melty cabbage.
The thick minced meat is so delicious!

This is a Western restaurant, so I'm thinking of trying curry and omelette rice next time, but...
I ended up choosing the cabbage rolls after all.
Because it has more volume than it looks,
I want to go to other sets, but I can't afford it.
But in the end, I end up making cabbage rolls and am satisfied every time.

As a Western food lover myself, there are other restaurants I like when it comes to Shinjuku.
Acacia is a must-see restaurant.
I was also surprised that the nearby Okinawa soba shop and Keika Ramen were still open.
There are actually many long-established stores that have been in business for decades.
Looking at the site of Barneys New York, which closed last year, I felt a little sad.

Barneys is one of the stores that the couple has fond memories of.
With the times, the shops and the town
And that means people change too.

We also need to evolve with the times.
I think it was around this time today.
