This “screw” is!!

Repairing the early model Santos I received the other day.
One of the very popular series that we also sell at our store.
This time, he inherited the watch from his family.
I received a request for maintenance before using it for myself.

Before repairing your Santos, be sure to check the following:
"Breath pin" and "double-sided bezel screws".
These two points are the first things to check before making any repairs.

The early model Santos had a slightly unusual shape, with screws on both sides of the bezel on the front and back.
After that, there was a model change and the design changed to a separate design with a regular back cover screw and a bezel screw.
In the early models, dirt and rust tend to accumulate around these screws.
Breath pins also tend to accumulate dirt and rust, so
Hit it firmly with a pin and check if it comes out.

I managed to get through the breath pin this time, but
According to the customer, it had been abandoned for over 10 years.
Dirt and rust will blow out when you remove the pin.
Fortunately, the parts were still usable!

The problem is the bezel screw,
It is firmly stuck due to age dirt and rust.
Even if you turn the tip of the screwdriver so much that it twists, it won't budge.
So,
In this case, please have a professional craftsman remove the screws.

There are several reasons why we recommend overhauling your watch regardless of its age.
In addition to maintaining the machinery,
You may be able to prevent the screws from sticking just by periodically removing the screws, like Santos did this time.
The shape of this type of watch cannot be overhauled without removing the screws.
Since such watches exist, we recommend regular maintenance.

The most important thing about this repair is that we have a craftsman who can remove screws from the bezel.
Probably cannot be repaired at another shop because the screws cannot be removed.
The manufacturer replaced the entire case just because the screws wouldn't come out.
In other words, it can't be fixed,
Or spend an awful lot of money
You are really forced to make two choices.
I would say that the only person who was able to come up with the third answer was Meiri, the watchmaker.
I think it was also good for the customers who requested it.

Furthermore, when removing screws, the screws are removed by scraping them, so
Naturally, the original parts cannot be used.
So in this case, I have a stock of screws, so
You can use it to perform repairs.

To be honest, the repair cost is not worth the labor cost.
The number of parts decreases.
It's not profitable at all.
But why would you go to that length to repair it?
That's the easy answer.

“Because we are a watchmaker, we respond 120% to our customers’ requests.”

At our store, we do what we can to the best of our ability.
Of course, there are some things that cannot be repaired.
At that time, I have no choice but to decline the offer.
If you have taken the trouble to consult with us, we will do what we can.
It would be my hope if we could ultimately complete a repair to the customer's satisfaction.
The craftsmen we work with also find it rewarding.

So the repair cost this time is overhaul ¥25,000+tax
New finish ¥10,000+tax
8 screws removed ¥24,000+tax

After removing the screws, I will estimate the inside.
It's roughly like this.
Probably, or definitely the repair price is too cheap (lol)
I am proud of that, but
We will do a better job than the price, so
Once the repair is completed, you will be glad that you requested the repair.

Although the work is still far from being completed,
We will do our best to make our customers happy.
Please feel free to contact us when requesting repairs!
