Cartier has several types of quartz movements, from the early days to the present.
There are roughly three types of SM size two-hand models.
The basic structure of the third generation machines has remained the same to this day, but the circuitry is different.
The first and second generation machines have completely different structures, and are no longer in production...
It can't be fixed!
This movement was used from around 1983 to around 1989.
The structure also looks somewhat old, but this is due to flaws in the original design.
Even if the parts are available, I would not recommend using them.
Some of these machines are still in operation today,
Eventually the circuit will become defective and cannot be repaired.
We have a stock of working machines for those who purchase them,
For new repairs, we will not accept products that have used this machinery.
So what happens if this mechanism is used in a watch?
Your only option is to ask the manufacturer to repair it.
Currently, when you request a repair for a quartz watch from a manufacturer,
They will replace it with a machine that meets the same specifications as the current product.
However, we won't know whether the problem can be fixed just by replacing the machine until we try it out.
In some cases, repairs will not be accepted unless the exterior parts are replaced as a set.
In the worst case scenario, if the case needs to be replaced as well, the repair cost could reach hundreds of thousands of yen.
Anyway, it is easy to buy vintage watches, especially with the internet.
We recommend that you do not buy it lightly and purchase it from a reliable store.
I hope that the watch you bought cheaply doesn't require unexpected repairs.
