The watch repair for the customer, which you requested the other day.
This time, we performed an overhaul and replaced the mainspring.

About two months before we received this watch, it had actually been repaired due to a damaged crown.
Due to the screw-down crown structure of Rolex watches from this era, if the crown is hit while locked, the impact can travel to the winding stem and cause it to break.
If you're lucky, the broken stem can be removed and only the winding stem replaced. However, if the tip of the winding stem breaks off inside the crown, the crown also needs to be replaced, which can be quite costly.
The previous repair was completed with only the winding stem replaced, but after the customer had the watch for a while, they contacted us to say that the watch had stopped working.
Upon inspection of the interior, it was found that the mainspring had broken. Although it was a bit early, it was also time for an overhaul, so we performed both tasks.
This time:
Overhaul: ¥30,800
Mainspring replacement: ¥8,800
Total: ¥37,600
In the vintage watch industry, where parts prices continue to soar, Rolex parts, while relatively abundant, can be quite expensive for genuine parts like crowns.
However, consumable parts such as mainsprings are still surprisingly affordable, but it's uncertain how long this will continue.
Therefore, by performing regular maintenance and minimizing part wear, you can reduce the need for major repairs as much as possible.
Even if the overhaul timing has passed, some watches still run well, so many people don't send them in for repair. However, we would be grateful if you could request an overhaul once every three years, if possible.
Of course, we also accept watches brought in for repair, so please feel free to consult us for your regular maintenance needs!
